On this townhouse project located in the low-laying Harlem plain, Jonathan Perlstein served as exterior designer and project manager for an architectural firm specializing in inner city multifamily projects.

The developer sought a design that, while fitting into a neighborhood of 19th century brownstones, also evoked Afro-Islamic motifs.

Jonathan conceived and executed a scheme utilizing robust, white cast-stone forms set against a background of red brick and expressed lintels, and detailed with incised symbols based on crafts indigenous to the Sub-Saharan region.
