This house retains much of the first floor framing and foundation systems from an in-filled 1950’s Cape located on an historic block in Montclair.

Environmentally sustainable features include high performance glazing set in wood frames, engineered lumber, and the preservation of trees at the site periphery.

The finished product retains none of the utilitarian character of the older structure. Instead, broad eaves, skirted shingles, a cedar trellis, 3 over 1 window sashes, and well-detailed natural materials evoke the early 20th century architectural style often known as Mission-Prairie Transitional.
